Rabat – Morocco’s ambassador to Chile, Kenza El Ghali, couldn’t contain her excitement after the national U-20 side made history by reaching the FIFA U-20 World Cup final for the first time. Speaking from the heart, she shared some truly heartfelt words that perfectly captured the pride and elation being felt all over Morocco.
“Al hamdullilah, I’m completely speechless at the moment. To be honest, this was one of the toughest matches they’ve had to face all the way through the World cup,” El Ghali said, still buzzing after Morocco’s dramatic semifinal win over France.
The match ended in a 1–1 tie so they took it to penalties, where, thanks to a crucial save from goalkeeper Hakim Mesbahi, they managed to take the win.
For El Ghali, this win was a great reflection of the kind of resilience and unity that can be shown within the Moroccan community. “Nothing’s impossible, we’re the generation of challenges , and when we stand together we can conquer anything,” she said with an air of pride.
Speaking from the tournament venue, she also shared with us how this victory brought the people of Chile & Moroccans together, in the place where the tournament is being held. “They made us feel welcome in Santiago and even Chilean people were celebrating right alongside us,” she said, highlighting the sense of connection and the pure joy that began spreading far beyond Moroccan borders.
Ambassador Celebrates Morocco’s Historic U-20 World Cup Run
Looking ahead to the final against Argentina on October 20th 2025, at the Julio Martínez Prádanos Stadium in Santiago, the ambassador just can’t help but have faith in her team. “This U20 team are gonna win the thing and hand the title to our young people back in Morocco and to everyone back home. Insha’Allah, for the first time we will win the title.”
El Ghali’s words actually carried all the warmth and pride of someone who has dedicated her time to represent Morocco abroad. Since she arrived in Chile, she’s become well known for promoting cultural exchange & education, whether through visiting universities or supporting the Mohammed VI Cultural Center in Coquimbo. Something that recently even earned her an honorary key to the city.
Morocco U-20 squad is now getting ready for the biggest match of their lives, and El Ghali’s message has the spirit of an entire nation right behind it: hopeful, proud, and all united behind their young heroes.
