Rabat – Morocco’s youth movement, GenZ212, issued a new statement reaffirming its principles of “awareness, unity, and dignity,” following weeks of nationwide demonstrations calling for reforms in education, healthcare, and governance

The statement comes amid internal tensions within the movement after several Amazigh members announced they were freezing their participation.

According to reports, the members accused GenZ212 of straying from its guiding principles and democratic approach. The movement had initially sought to bring together Morocco’s Generation Z around shared demands for improved public services and stronger anti-corruption measures.

In response, GenZ212’s latest declaration expressed “deep pride in the new spirit that reflects the awareness of Morocco’s rising generation,” describing it as a belief that “true reform begins with the people and for the people.”

The movement called the current moment a turning point, saying Morocco now stands “at the threshold of a new phase of progress” driven by youth consciousness and unity around social justice and comprehensive reform.

However, the group voiced concern over what it described as “suspicious attempts to sow division and ignite identity-based tensions” among Moroccans, warning that such rhetoric seeks to fragment a country “bound for centuries by shared struggle and destiny.”

Invoking Morocco’s long history of unity and resistance, GenZ212 reminded that “the flag raised against colonialism was not that of one group or region, but of a unified Morocco, land, people, and future.”

Concluding with a collective call to action, the movement urged Moroccans to reject divisive discourse and work together toward an inclusive and equitable future.
