Mohammedia – The 45th edition of GITEX Global took place in the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Harbour from October 13 to 17. According to official statistics, more than 6,800 companies, 2,000 startups, and 1,200 investors from 180 countries participated.
Artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, and next-generation data infrastructure were some of the main topics. Governments, businesses, and investors from all over the world paid close attention to these areas.
Global policy, public-private deals and AI ecosystems
The gathering gave global policymakers and AI leaders a chance to talk about rules, data sovereignty, and working together across borders.Â
One notable segment was when Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, and Peng Xiao, the Group CEO of G42, had a virtual conversation about the concept of “AI-native societies.”Â
A number of public-private collaborations were finalized during the week, reflecting a shift from dialogue to deployment.Â
Officials from both the UAE and other countries agreed on wanting the UAE to become a worldwide AI hub.
Breakthrough technologies and startup surge
The exhibition floor demonstrated smart contact lenses that measure glucose levels, brain-computer implants that decode neural signals, and gene-editing technologies that are meant to make these diseases less likely to happen.Â
Microsoft, Google, AMD, Oracle, and Snowflake are some of the major IT companies in the world that have unveiled AI and cloud infrastructure solutions for businesses.
The co-located Expand North Star event at Dubai Harbour also helped start-ups get more attention. It brought together founders from more than 100 nations with investors who manage more than US$1 trillion in assets. The “Supernova Challenge 2.0” had a prize fund of $300,000. The best start-up was from Korea, and the second-best was from Chile and Ecuador.
Looking ahead to 2026
Organizers announced that the next edition, called GITEX TechCation 2026, will be held at the newly built Dubai Exhibition Center (Expo City Dubai) from December 7 to 11, 2026. The concept will go beyond regular conference rooms to include city-wide experiences that mix technology, culture, food, and outdoor activities.
The size of GITEX Global 2025 supports Dubai’s plan to become a global center for tech and AI innovation. It also shows that the future of high-tech industry, as well as smart policy, is becoming more international and reliant on infrastructure.
