Rabat- The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, recently spent some time with the players and coaches of Morocco’s U17 national team in the lead-up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 which is set to kick off from November 3 to the 27th.
The get-together at the FRMF headquarters in Rabat was undeniably a clear sign of how serious the FRMF is about supporting the country’s up-and-coming talent.
The country’s young football stars are heading into the World Cup with a spring in their step thanks to the success of the U-20 national team who just won the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile in a huge upset.
At the meeting, Lekjaa gave the players and coaching staff a big thumbs up for all their hard work over the preparation period straightaway.
He pointed out that drawing inspiration from the massive success of Morocco’s U-20 team was going to be key. He also highlighted the impressiveness of being the first Arab nation to do so at that level.
Lekjaa told the U-17 players to aim high and give it their all on the pitch. They have to build on the momentum that their senior counterparts had generated.
Final preparations for the U17 World Cup
Morocco has been drawn into Group B for the tournament, alongside Japan, New Caledonia, and Portugal. The group stage fixtures are:
- Morocco vs. Japan: November 3, 2025
- Morocco vs. New Caledonia: November 6, 2025
- Morocco vs. Portugal: November 9, 2025
These three games will be surely crucial for Morocco to make it to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Under coach Nabil Baha, the U-17 team just wrapped up a training camp in Dakar, Senegal. They played a couple of friendly matches against Senegal’s U-17 team.
The final squad for the tournament was announced on October 20, 2025, with a mix of old and new talent on the pitch. Some of the players came through the Mohammed VI Football Academy while others were plucked from various clubs.
With the support of the federation and the huge motivation generated by the U-20 team’s success, the U17 team is now certainly in a great position to make a real impact at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.
