Rabat – Moroccan football will be well represented at the CAF Awards 2025, with AS FAR, RS Berkane, and two national teams earning nominations across major categories.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed its shortlist this week, and Morocco stands out with four key nominations.
AS FAR’s women’s team is nominated for the Women’s Club of the Year award, while RS Berkane is in the running for the Men’s Club of the Year trophy. The senior national team and the U-20 squad are both nominated for National Team of the Year.
AS FAR’s women have been dominant in recent seasons, winning the Moroccan league and performing strongly in continental competitions.
Their consistent success and growing influence in women’s football earned them a spot among Africa’s top ten clubs, alongside teams like Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) and TP Mazembe (DR Congo).
Likewise, RS Berkane’s nomination follows a standout season that saw them win the Moroccan Botola Pro and lift the CAF Confederation Cup against Simba SC (Tanzania).
Their tactical discipline and strong squad depth helped them beat top clubs from across the continent.
The list also includes Egypt’s Pyramids FC, Cote d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas, Algeria’s CS Constantine and CR Belouizdad, South Africa’s Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns, Tanzania’s Simba SC, and Sudan’s Al-Hilal.
The Moroccan senior national team impressed with strong performances in international fixtures, while the U-20 team made history by winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup, becoming the first Moroccan side to do so.
Their success sparked celebrations across the country and drew praise from global football figures.
