Rabat — Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced an expansion of its domestic flight network, enhancing connectivity to Moroccan southern provinces.
Royal Air Maric said the new plan is part of a partnership with the regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Guelmin Oued Noun.
The expansion is part of a strategy to connect Moroccan regions to “better meet citizens’ needs and support regional economic growth,” the national carrier said in a press release.
It emphasized that the company witnessed steady growth in air services from southern provinces since 2005. The company recorded an increase from an average of six weekly flights to 63 flights per week.
CEO of Royal Air Maroc Hamid Addou celebrated the development of domestic air connections, stating that this strategy aligns with King Mohammed VI’s vision and high directives.
“By reinforcing our presence in the south, we aim to efficiently connect regions, enhance mobility, and support territorial dynamism,” Addou said.
He added that the launch of the new routes is part of the company’s commitment to linking all regions and promoting social, familial, and economic vitality across Morocco.
New air routes were inaugurated this month between Marrakech and Laayoune, with two weekly flights served on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Departures from Laayoune take off from 4 p.m., with arrivals in Marrakech scheduled at 5:20 p.m.
Return flights are at 6:10 p.m., with arrival in Laayoune scheduled at 7:40 p.m. A one-way trip in economy class is fixed at MAD 750 ($75).
As for Dakhla-Marrakech, they are connected every Monday and Thursday. Departures take off at 3 p.m., with arrivals in Marrakech scheduled for 4:55 p.m.
Return flights are scheduled at 5:45 p.m., while arrival in Dakhla is at 7:55 p.m. A one-way flight in economy class is fixed at MAD 800 ($80).
Royal Air Maroc’s strategy also includes a flight between Rabat and Laayoune, with flights operating between the two destinations three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. As for the Rabat-Dakhla air route, three flights operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Fifteen weekly flights, including a new Sunday service, also operate between Casablanca and Laayoune. Royal Air Maroc also connects travelers between Casablanca and Guelmin, with five direct flights per week.
Casablanca and Tan Tan are also now connected with three direct weekly flights, now separate from the Guelmim route.
As part of the new expansion, a direct air route between Casablanca and Es-Smara will be launched on November 6. Royal Air Maroc chooses the date as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Green March. The flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.
