Morocco U17 team news

Morocco coach Anwar Mghinia will be hoping his players can finish on a high after two tough matches against strong opponents. Despite the losses, there were positives like the team’s second half spirit against Italy. Also, Dounia El Mesmoudi’s goal against Italy, Morocco’s first of the tournament and in their U17 World Cup history.

Morocco will go into this match with renewed energy and will want to give their home fans something to cheer about before they exit the competition. Why not a first-ever knockout round qualification.

Predicted lineup (4–3–3): Boukhareb, Hamdani, Diyen, Rahmoune, Youssoufi, Bouzman, Azraf, Chafni, Baha, Abajiou.

Costa Rica U17 team news

Costa Rica come into the match knowing a win could see them finish as high as second depending on the Italy vs Brazil result. After a 1–1 draw with Brazil and a 2–0 loss to Italy, they’ve shown they can compete with the big boys with solid organization and quick counter attacks.

Coach Edgar Rodríguez after the draw with Brazil said the team had a lot of character to get the point, a big result after the defeat and difficult to get against such a strong team. He said getting points kept them alive in the tournament and was done with a lot of character.

Predicted lineup (4–3–2–1): Garcia, Barquero, Cubero, Arguello, Montoya, Medina, Ocampo, Azofeifa, Hernandez, Cordero, Wilson.

What to expect

Both teams have nothing to lose and absolutely everything to gain so this should be an intense open game. Morocco will play for their home crowd and push forward like they did in the second half against Italy. It’s a must-win for the Atlas Cubs.

Costa Rica’s structure and pace on the counter could make the difference.

Morocco will try to press high and commit numbers forward leaving space for Costa Rica to exploit in transition. Both teams have conceded multiple goals in their previous games so the defensive battle will be key to who takes the points.

Safe calls

  • Costa Rica Win or Draw: The Ticas have the experience and form.
  • Over 1.5 Goals: Both teams have played open games so far.
  • Both Teams to Score: Yes, both teams have scored in their last games
  • Score prediction: Morocco 1–2 Costa Rica
