Rabat – Moroccan police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 24-year-old French national of Algerian origin who was wanted on an international red notice issued by French judicial authorities.
According to a security source, the suspect was apprehended on Saturday during routine border control checks.Â
His identity was confirmed through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database, which revealed that he was wanted internationally based on a red notice issued by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Paris.
French authorities suspect the man is part of a larger criminal organization and in illegal possession of explosive materials.Â
The same source indicated that the suspect has been placed in custody pending extradition proceedings, in accordance with the instructions of the competent public prosecutor.
Morocco’s Interpol National Central Bureau, operating under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in France about the arrest to coordinate the next steps in the extradition process.
This latest arrest shows Morocco’s ongoing cooperation with international security bodies in combating transnational crime and ensuring compliance with international judicial requests.
