Olympiacos return home after a bruising couple of weeks on the road against Arsenal and Barcelona. The Greek champions were beaten 2-0 in London and humiliated 6-1 in Catalunya, leaving them desperate for points to stay in the Champions League race.

Their opening draw with Pafos means Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men sit bottom of the group and cannot afford another slip, especially with Real Madrid next on their list.

PSV arrive in fine form. Peter Bosz’s men smashed Fortuna Sittard 5-2 at the weekend and put six past Napoli in their last Champions League outing – with Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari scoring a hat-trick. They are unbeaten in eight matches and look confident going forward, though their defence remains a concern.

Team News

Olympiacos

    • Francisco Ortega and Santiago Hezze remain sidelined, the latter suspended after his red card last time out.
    • Daniel Podence ended his nine-match goal drought on Saturday and will likely start again.
    • Mendilibar could deploy Ayoub El Kaabi and Mehdi Taremi together up front after their successful link-up in domestic play.
    • Predicted XI: Tzolakis – Costinha, Pirola, Retscos, Onyemaechi – Garcia, Maouzakitis – Podence, Taremi, El Kaabi

  • Alassane Plea remains out of the Champions League squad.
  • Ismael Saibari is the man in form with ten goals in seven matches, including two in the last two European rounds.

Form and Stats

  • Olympiacos have won their last three domestic games and are unbeaten in their last eight home European matches.
  • PSV have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 19 Champions League fixtures but have scored 20 goals in their last five matches in all competitions.
  • The two clubs last met in the 2021–22 Europa League, when Olympiacos advanced 5-4 on aggregate.

Safest Calls

  • Both teams to score – Highly likely given both sides’ attacking momentum.
  • Over 2.5 goals – Neither team defends well in Europe.
  • Draw or PSV double chance – The Dutch side’s current form gives them a slight edge, though Olympiacos at home are no pushovers.
  • Score Prediction: Olympiacos 2–2 PSV.
