Rabat – Tourist arrivals in Morocco reached 16.6 million tourists by the end of October, according to new data from Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor.
The minister said today that this number marks a 14% increase compared to the same period a year earlier.
She attributed the “remarkable momentum” to the 2023 roadmap and the “growing confidence” of both domestic and foreign investors in the industry.
Ammor made her remarks during the signing ceremony of a letter of intent between Groupe Alliances and Rixos Hotels.
The minister also cited Morocco’s global ranking, positioning the North African country among the world’s 20 most dynamic destinations. The UN rankings put Morocco in 13th position worldwide.
Meanwhile, the country expects 18 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2025.
According to a recent report on public institutions and enterprises by the Ministry of Economy, the increase in tourism arrivals is due to efforts aimed at strengthening air connectivity and promotion campaigns as part of the 2023-2026 roadmap.
Last year, Morocco welcomed at least 17.4 million tourists. The country’s ultimate goal is to reach 26 million tourists by 2030 — an achievable objective as the North African kingdom prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal and Spain.
Later this year, Morocco will also host AFCON, the largest and most prestigious football tournament in Africa. The continental event is set to attract thousands of football fans from across the world, especially in the later phases.
