Rabat – Israeli media allege that Morocco and Israel are in talks to resume direct flights between the two countries.

Israeli news outlet N12 has reported that both countries reached “advanced” talks to discuss the resumption of direct flights.

The news outlet alleged that this comes following the “end” of the genocidal war on Gaza.

“With the end of hostilities, communication between transportation authorities has been renewed, and the popular route may soon return to operation,” N12 reported.

However, this claim of an “end of hostilities” in Gaza comes as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue air raids targeting several areas across Gaza City.

Al Jazeera reported today that Israeli raids killed at least two people, including a child. The attacks come in violation of a truce agreed upon by Hamas and Israel in October.

According to Al Jazeera, over 241 Palestinians have been killed during Israeli attacks across Gaza since the start of the ceasefire.

N12 further alleged that security and transportation officials from the two countries have re-established contact to relaunch the direct route.

Israel and Morocco agreed to launch direct flights after Rabat’s involvement in the US-brokered Abraham Accords in December 2020, which re-established relations between the two countries.

However, in October 2023, after Israel launched its genocide on Gaza, converging reports said both Israeli airlines El Al and Arkia, as well as Morocco’s air carrier Royal Air Maroc, suspended flights connecting flights until further notice.

Many Moroccans staunchly oppose bilateral ties between Morocco and Israel, calling on the government to sever relations with Tel Aviv in response to the IOF’s relentless campaigns and war crimes against Palestinians.

Moroccans have taken to the streets on multiple occasions since October 7, 2023 shunning Israel’s US-backed genocide on Gaza and subsequent violations of international law in the occupied West Bank.
