Rabat – Automotive manufacturer MG Motor has announced the launch of the new MG HS Hybrid+ in Morocco’s market.
A statement from the manufacturer said the new generation reflects a “significant progress in technology, comfort and performance, notably with the integration of the Hybrid+ powertrain across the entire range.”
The new release includes different features, including increased dimensions, measuring 4.67 meters in length. This represents a six-centimeter increase. The new car is 1.89 meters in width and 1.66 meters in height.
The manufacturer said the new measurements give it more dynamic proportions, improving interior space.
“Five essential components make up this Hybrid+ powertrain: the combustion engine, the gearbox, the battery, the electric motor, and the generator,” the press release added.
Despite featuring advanced technologies, the new vehicle still saves a significant amount of fuel, according to the statement, as it consumes only 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers and produces 126 grams of CO₂ per kilometer. This is because the vehicle features a 1.83 kWh battery, allowing more frequent electric driving.
This also allows fuel consumption to drop by 31% and CO₂ emissions by 25% compared to the previous petrol version.
The new release aligns with Morocco’s automotive goals.
The North African country has been attracting international suppliers and companies that choose Morocco as a major automotive manufacturing and marketing destination.
Morocco is producing over one million cars, with plans to raise capacity to 1.45 million, and eventually two million, and aims to build a full electric vehicle battery chain, attracting investors to produce batteries for over one million cars.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour stated that Morocco is also attracting investment in hydrogen and aerospace, describing the country’s potential as highly attractive to partners.
“We will be the only solution outside of China in the region capable of producing the entire battery value chain – from raw materials to finished cars,” Mezzour said, recalling that the country is already producing EVs and building a large battery factory under construction.
Morocco aims to increase its production capacity by 53%.
The country’s goal is to increase production to reach 107,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2025.
