AS FAR women are back on top of African football. The Moroccan side defeated ASEC Mimosas 2–1 in the CAF Women’s Champions League final at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium, winning their second continental title and avenging last year’s heartbreak at home against TP Mazembe.
The Moroccan women started strongly with Ait El Haj scoring in the 13th minute to take the lead. The Ivorian newcomers ASEC Mimosas didn’t back down and equalized in the second half, showing determination in their first-ever final (and participation). Their valiant and formidable effort is a good sign for the future of women’s football in the Ivory Coast.

Redouani’s penalty wins it for AS FAR
The game was level until the dying minutes. After a bad foul by Diara in the dangerous area, Zineb Redouani stepped up and calmly converted a low-driven penalty, giving AS FAR the lead again. Her strong finish won the game and also earned her the Woman of the Match award.
ASEC Mimosas fought until the end, but their lack of experience in a big final showed. The game got intense in the last minutes with yellow cards and heated moments, but AS FAR held on, finishing with 5 defenders and 2 holding midfielders to protect their narrow lead.
With this win, AS FAR have joined Mamelodi Sundowns in holding the record for the most titles in the CAF Women’s Champions League, with two wins each. Also, AS FAR have now qualified for the 2026 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup play-offs.
