Rabat – The President of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, said on Friday in Marrakech that hosting the 93rd Interpol General Assembly is a strong international recognition of Morocco’s contribution to global security.

Speaking at a press conference, Al-Raisi explained that holding this important meeting in Marrakech from November 24 to 27 shows the international community’s appreciation for Morocco’s active presence in global security platforms and its strong engagement within Interpol.

“I am very happy to be in our beloved country, the Kingdom of Morocco, a country of security and peace. Morocco gives great importance to international police cooperation and believes truly that security is shared and cannot be divided,” he said.

According to Al-Raisi, choosing Marrakech for this major event confirms Morocco’s respected position as a key player in Interpol activities and initiatives, and reflects its constant support for the organization.

The significance of Morocco’s strategic geography

He hailed Morocco’s “essential and central role” in maintaining global security, noting that the country’s strategic location, linking Africa, the Arab world, and Europe, allows it to strengthen cooperation and communication between different regions.

Al-Raisi also mentioned that hosting this event, after welcoming world security leaders in 2007, once again shows Morocco’s commitment to strong police cooperation among Interpol member states, especially at a time when the world faces major challenges such as cybercrime and cross-border crime.

He recalled Morocco’s important efforts to support security in Africa. As Interpol’s Vice President for Africa, Morocco works closely with African countries on joint operations and training. “Morocco is one of the first countries present in most of the operations carried out in the region,” he said.

The Interpol President expressed great pride in Morocco’s achievements in security at the African, Arab, and international levels. He also congratulated Morocco for hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, saying he is confident in the country’s ability to organize major global events successfully.

Al-Raisi also reviewed the progress achieved by Interpol during his term, including stronger international cooperation, the expansion of Interpol’s databases, more joint operations, increased women’s participation, and better representation of all continents in its governing bodies.
