Rabat – King Mohammed VI sent Lebanese President Joseph Aoun a message of congratulations on the occasion of his country’s national celebrations, expressing deep friendship and unwavering support for Lebanon.

The king’s message recalled the strong bonds between the two countries and offered heartfelt wishes for the country’s continued stability and prosperity.

The king extended “the most sincere congratulations and the best wishes to the Lebanese people for further development and prosperity, under the banner of security and stability.”

He noted “the sincere ties of brotherhood and effective solidarity” that bind Morocco and Lebanon, voicing his desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation “in a manner that benefits our two brotherly peoples.”

He also reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to “standing firmly by the side of the brotherly Lebanese people, and giving full support to the preservation of their security, serenity, and national unity.”

The King’s message comes as tensions are rising again along the Lebanon-Israel frontier, after United Nations peacekeepers condemned the Israeli army for building a “concrete T‑wall” that crosses into Lebanese territory.

According to UNIFIL, the barrier, erected southwest and southeast of the village of Yaroun, intrudes beyond the so-called Blue Line, rendering over 4,000 square meters of Lebanese land inaccessible to local communities.

The construction has drawn sharp condemnation from UNIFIL, which described it as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and an affront to Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Israel defends the wall as part of a broader defensive strategy, claiming the work began in 2022 and insisting the structure remains entirely on its side of the Blue Line.

In addition, Israeli occupation forces carried out barrages of airstrikes in southern Lebanon this week on what it said were Hezbollah sites, killing one person. Another Israeli airstrike killed 13 people in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ein el-Hilweh in Lebanon.
