Rabat – Morocco’s cybersecurity industry is entering a decisive phase of expansion, driven by rising cyber threats, rapid digital adoption, and increased government action to secure national infrastructure.
According to a recent “Morocco Cybersecurity (MDR & SOC) Market” report by Ken Research, the sector is now valued at $1.2 billion (MAD 11.13 billion), reflecting strong momentum built over the past five years and signaling even faster growth ahead.
Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier remain the country’s primary cybersecurity hubs. Casablanca’s concentration of financial institutions and multinational firms makes it a high-priority environment for advanced digital protection.
Rabat, home to key government bodies, has become a strategic center for public-sector cybersecurity programs.
Tangier’s expanding industrial ecosystem has also increased demand for threat detection and monitoring solutions across manufacturing operations.
A key milestone shaping the market was the rollout of Morocco’s National Cybersecurity Strategy in 2023. The initiative established a national cybersecurity agency and allocated $100 million (MAD 927.3 million) to reinforce the country’s security posture.
The strategy places strong emphasis on public-private collaboration to protect critical infrastructure and build long-term digital resilience, according to the Ken Research report.
Cybersecurity services see rising demand across sectors
The report outlines multiple service segments, with Managed Detection and Response (MDR) emerging as the dominant category as organizations seek proactive, real-time threat mitigation.
Other major services include Security Operations Center (SOC) operations, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and compliance support.
Government agencies remain the largest end-users, followed by financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing sectors.
A sharp rise in cyber incidents — including a 30% jump in attacks this year and more than 1,300 recorded breaches last year — pushed institutions to strengthen their defenses and invest in more sophisticated monitoring capabilities.
Opportunities rise despite talent and cost barriers
Despite the positive outlook, the sector faces structural challenges. Morocco currently has only 6,000 certified cybersecurity professionals, while national demand exceeds 12,000, according to the report.
High implementation costs — ranging from MAD 250,000 ($26,987) to MAD 1.2 million ($129,537) — continue to deter small and medium-sized businesses from deploying MDR and SOC systems.
Despite the costs, Ken Research notes that the market’s future remains promising. Digital transformation is expected to add MAD 120 billion ($12.95 billion) to Morocco’s economy, creating new vulnerabilities that require robust protection.
Meanwhile, the cloud services market — set to reach MAD 20 billion ($2.16 billion) — is opening major opportunities for cloud-security solutions, and managed security services are projected to grow by MAD 1.5 billion ($161.92 million).
Supported by government initiatives, rising awareness, and rapid digitalization, Morocco’s cybersecurity market is positioned for sustained long-term expansion.
