Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has announced the launch of online registration for the 2027 Hajj season (1448 AH). The process will take place from Monday, December 8, to Friday, December 19.
The ministry said the Royal Commission for Hajj decided to open electronic registration for all citizens 18 years and older who wish to perform the pilgrimage and have not completed Hajj in the past 10 years.
Registration will be available through the ministry’s official website. Applicants can choose between two lists: A list for people who want to perform Hajj under the supervision of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and a separate list for those who prefer to go with licensed travel agencies.
For elderly pilgrims, the ministry said they must register with a family member under the age of 50, who has enough physical ability to accompany them throughout the journey and help them complete all rituals.
The ministry encouraged citizens to register early and carefully follow all instructions on the website.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and is considered a major spiritual journey for Muslims around the world. It takes place every year in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia during the month of Dhul-Hijjah, the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar.
Muslims who are physically and financially able are required to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime. The pilgrimage includes several important rituals such as Tawaf, which is walking around the Kaaba seven times, and Sa’i, walking between the hills of Safa and Marwa.
It also includes standing at Arafat, which is the most essential step, symbolizing reflection and prayer, as well as stoning of the Jamarat and Eid al-Adha sacrifice.
Hajj is not only a religious duty but also a moment of unity, where millions of Muslims from different countries, cultures, and languages gather in one place with the same purpose.
