Mohammedia – The legal situation of Moroccan rapper Jawad Asradi, known artistically as “Pause Flow,” took a new turn yesterday as his lawyer clarified that the artist remains in detention despite a court ruling allowing his release on bail.
Asradi appeared before the Sefrou court yesterday for the second hearing in his ongoing trial.
The court agreed to the defense’s request for provisional release, setting bail at MAD 100,000. The rapper, however, has not yet been able to pay the amount.
In a statement shared today, Asradi’s lawyer, Yassine Ben-Lakrim, said the court granted a 15-day deadline to gather the funds.
He described the bail as “a very large amount” that the artist is unable to provide for now, noting that the release is conditional and will only take effect once the payment is made.
“As long as the bail has not been paid, he remains detained at the local prison in Sefrou,” the lawyer said, adding that discussions with Asradi’s family are underway to determine the next steps.
The rapper was originally arrested on charges of insulting an organized body and public officials, based on Articles 263 and 265 of the Moroccan Penal Code.
The accusations stem from lyrics and expressions in several of his songs that authorities say undermine the dignity and authority of a public institution and its employees.
