Rabat – Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has appointed Salim Raiss as its new managing director for all of its entities in Morocco.
Raiss’ role will contribute to AGL’s development and its activities, strengthening its position in Morocco, a key market for the company.
AGL said the appointment aligns with its global strategy to boost its presence in the region, especially through supporting growth linked to investment projects planned in Morocco in the coming years.
“I am honored to join AGL and contribute to its development strategy in Morocco. I look forward to building, together with the local teams, a sustainable growth dynamic based on the expertise of our company,” AGL’s communique quoted Raiss as saying.
He emphasized his commitment to contributing to building a sustainable growth dynamic based on the expertise of AGL, in cooperation with his local teams. In addition, Rais said his vision is to further strengthen customer relationships, operational performance, and innovation.
Meanwhile, the company’s statement concluded: “AGL is confident that the experience and vision of Salim Raiss will be major assets in continuing its expansion and strengthening its operations in Morocco.”
The company is a logistics operator offering different services, including port, maritime, and rail solutions.
With 23,000 employees across 50 countries, AGL pledges “extensive expertise” to offer innovative services to African and international clients.
More on the new managing director
Raiss is an engineering graduate in the agri-food industries in France.
He held several positions in his career in the agri-food sector, including at Unilever and Danone. Raiss’s career also includes a move into the chemical industry with DuPont de Nemours, where he held several key positions – including Industrial Project Manager.
He additionally served as Research and Development Project Director and Sales Director.
To have his experience reflect on his career, Raiss created the Moroccan subsidiary of the Azelis group. The company is an international distributor of chemical products, “where he also held various leadership roles for 10 years.” After a decade of experience there, he also became the regional managing director for Francophone Africa.
He led several projects in that position, including Antwerp for export flows to over 20 countries in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region as well as in Tanger Med.
