ONDA Installs Fan Zones in Moroccan Airports for AFCON 2025

From the moment fans land, Morocco’s airports are no longer just transit points – they are part of the competition itself, as the country quite literally rolls out the red carpet for Africa.

Marrakech – Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) has installed fan zones across the country’s airports to allow travelers to watch AFCON 2025 matches live during transit and layovers.

The initiative forms part of ONDA’s “Welcome Football, Welcome Fans” campaign launched in collaboration with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The specially designed zones enable passengers to follow matches in real-time and experience the tournament atmosphere even while traveling.

ONDA announced the comprehensive dispositif on Friday, confirming that all Moroccan airports are fully mobilized to welcome supporters, delegations, and teams under optimal conditions.

“Moroccan airports are on the front line and intend to fully play their role as true gateways to celebrate the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in collaboration with the LOC and CAF,” the office stated.

The preparation strategy involved over one year of human and material investments focusing on capacity improvements, infrastructure modernization, passenger flow optimization, and staff training.

ONDA coordinates closely with the Interior Ministry, National Security Directorate (DGSN), Royal Gendarmerie, Customs Administration (ADII), and Transport Ministry to handle the major sporting event requirements.

Since mid-November, before the CAF Awards 2025 ceremony held in Rabat on November 19, Moroccan airports have been transformed with AFCON-themed installations.

Giant AFCON-branded footballs dominate airport terminals. LED screens pulse with tournament colors, while slogans welcoming Africa flash across walls and walkways.

The visual deployment extends across all terminals, with monumental arches, oversized trophy installations, immersive tunnels, and interactive fan zones integrated throughout arrival and departure areas.

The “Welcome Football, Welcome Fans” institutional spot creates an enveloping experience where fans encounter the celebratory installations.

ONDA describes the approach as transforming “each arrival into a moment of collective celebration” and establishing “the tone, creating emotion and generating an atmosphere of conviviality.”

Airport authorities have implemented reinforced organizational measures to manage expected passenger flows. Multi-language signage, orientation zones, dedicated assistance teams, and continuous operational monitoring ensure optimal passenger handling upon arrival in Morocco.

The fan zones announced today complement eight public viewing areas equipped with giant screens established in host cities nationwide. These spaces in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Fez require supporter cards for entry but offer free match viewing.

AFCON 2025 runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, utilizing nine stadiums across six cities. ONDA’s comprehensive approach aims to demonstrate Morocco’s aviation ecosystem efficiency while affirming the country’s role as an African hub.

“Each arrival will mark the beginning of a sporting, cultural, and human adventure that brings together the nations of the continent and their supporters,” ONDA concluded.
