Rabat—Morocco sit alone at the top of Group A at the 2025 AFCO after Mali and Zambia played out a 1–1 draw, a result that worked in the hosts’ favor after the opening round of matches.
The game, played at the Complexe Mohammed V in Casablanca, saw Mali take the lead in the second half through Lassine Sinayoko in the 61st minute. Just when it looked like the Eagles would secure all three points, Patson Daka struck deep into stoppage time, heading home an equalizer in the 92nd minute to earn Zambia a share of the spoils.

The draw leaves Mali and Zambia with one point each, and Morocco now leads the group on three points thanks to their opening 2–0 win over Comoros. Goals from Brahim Díaz and Ayoub El Kaabi gave the Lions of the Atlas a solid start to the tournament and an early advantage in the standings.
With Comoros at the bottom of the group after the first round, Morocco now holds a clear edge going into the next set of group matches.
The hosts face Mali next, with a chance to strengthen their position and move closer to qualification on Friday 26, while Zambia take on Comoros in another key Group A match.
