Rabat – Morocco is expected to experience continued unstable weather from Wednesday through the end of the week, according to the National Directorate of Meteorology (DGM). The country will remain under the influence of Atlantic weather disturbances combined with cold air masses in the upper atmosphere.

The weather authority said this weather pattern will bring significant rainfall of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms. The most affected areas include the Rif region, the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, the Gharb and Saiss plains, and the northern and central Atlantic coasts. Rain is also expected in Souss, Doukkala, and Abda.

Scattered rainfall is forecast in other regions, including eastern Morocco, the Mediterranean coast, and the northern parts of the southern provinces. Due to a noticeable drop in temperatures, snowfall is expected in mountainous areas above 1,500 meters, particularly in the Atlas Mountains, the Rif, and the eastern high plateaus. These areas may experience very cold conditions, with frost likely to form during the night and early morning.

The DGM expects rain and occasional thunderstorms today in the Rif, Atlas Mountains, Gharb, and Oulmès, with local rainfall extending to Souss, the plains, and the northern and central Atlantic coasts.

Light rain may also affect the Mediterranean coast, northern eastern regions, Tangier, western Atlas areas, and northern southern provinces.

Snowfall is expected in the High and Middle Atlas, and locally in the Rif and eastern highlands, along with relatively strong winds in the Atlas, eastern regions, southeast, and northern southern provinces.

Maximum temperatures will remain low in mountainous areas, ranging between 0 and 6°C, while remaining moderate elsewhere. Minimum temperatures may drop to between -5 and 1°C in the Atlas and Rif regions.

Cold to very cold conditions will continue until Thursday, especially in mountainous areas, the southeast, and high plateaus. Rain is expected in the Atlas, Rif, Saiss, Souss, and northern and central Atlantic plains, with snowfall again forecast in the High and Middle Atlas.

Friday will also see cold weather in mountainous and southeastern regions, with rain or thunderstorms expected in the Rif, Middle Atlas, Gharb, Doukkala, Abda, and Chiadma. Snowfall is forecast in the Atlas Mountains and northern eastern regions.

Rain will continue into the weekend, with showers expected on Saturday in Souss and along the Atlantic coast, and on Sunday in the High Atlas, Mediterranean coast, eastern regions, and Souss. Snowfall may be locally significant in the Atlas and eastern regions.
