Rabat – Morocco is playing its second match in the AFCON group stage: Mali, a rival of the Atlas Lions.
The match will take place tonight at 9 p.m. Moroccan time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The game will be live on Morocco’s Arriyadia TNT channel, TNT Al Oula, as well as beIN Sports 1, and Ziggo Sport.
Morocco kicked off its journey at the AFCON finals with a 2-0 opener against Comoros. The game was packed with stress and pressure, especially as Morocco is the host for the largest tournament on the continent.
Diaz gave Morocco its first goal, which contributed to helping the Atlas Lions gain confidence and roar to secure their first win.
The second goal came from Ayoub Al Kaabi, whose scissor goal was celebrated not only by Moroccan fans but also by international commentators.
Coach Walid Regragui said on Thursday that winning the first match against Comros was very important and added that the upcoming game will be difficult.
“Now we are facing a tough match against Mali, a team we know very well. They are among the strongest teams, with high-quality players who always want to win,” he said.
“Our goal is to win and qualify for the next round,” Regragui said with confidence.
The coach also provided updates on the team’s injured players. He confirmed that Nayef Aguerd is fully fit, while captain Romain Saiss is suffering from a muscle injury and will miss the upcoming game. Meanwhile, Achraf Hakimi is recovering and on his way back, as is Hamza Igamane.
Morocco and Mali faced off in at least 20 games overall in their history. Morocco won nine of the games, while Mali won six, and both teams ended five matches in draws.
Morocco remains a favorite, but again, this is AFCON — the most unpredictable tournament worldwide.
Who do you think will win the game tonight? Will the Atlas Lions roar to secure their second win in this stage of the tournament, or will Mali’s Eagles prove themselves as a surprising contender for the tournament?
