Rabat – Moroccan football player Achraf Hakimi has expressed admiration for his friend and former teammate Kylian Mbappe, citing the French player’s love for Morocco and its cuisine.
Hakimi made his remarks today in a press conference along with Walid Regragui ahead of the Morocco vs Zambia game, which will take place tomorrow in Rabat at 8 p.m.
“It’s a pleasure to have my friend in my country. He loves Morocco a lot. He comes to Morocco whenever he can with his family and really enjoys his time here and the Moroccan food,’ Hakimi said.
He added that he is happy that Mbappe attended the Morocco vs Mali game on Friday, during which he wore Morocco’s jersey– specifically Hakimi’s number 2.
The two players have maintained a strong friendship despite Mbappe’s departure from PSG to Real Madrid. Both players spoke highly of one another on multiple occasions.
“He is very happy he attended our game. He likes our team and said we are the favorites to win the AFCON trophy. I am really happy he is with us,” Hakimi concluded.
Mbappe was present in the Mali vs Morocco game, which ended with a 1-1 draw.
