Casablanca – L’Oréal Maroc celebrated the certification of 65 young hairdressers last Friday, December 19, during a ceremony held at its Hairdressing Academy in Casablanca.
The event marked the conclusion of the 2025 training cycle led by the Professional Products Division and reaffirmed the group’s long-term commitment to education as a key driver of skills development and employability in Morocco’s hairdressing sector.
The newly certified hairdressers completed a demanding program combining technical mastery with client-facing and professional skills. For the group, the initiative reflects a broader vision of hairdressing as both a craft and a service profession that requires precision, communication, and trust.
“The certification our hairdressers received today is very demanding,” Ouarda El Khattabi, Head of Education and Training in the Professional Products Division at L’Oréal Maroc, told MWN on the sidelines of the event. “Beyond technical expertise, they must also develop human skills.”
This approach responds to the evolving needs of salons and consumers in a market where expectations increasingly extend beyond technique alone.
Training modules cover diagnosis, coloring, highlights, and balayage, while also focusing on real salon situations, client interaction, and professional conduct.
From certification to nationwide skills development
Laila Benjelloun, Country Manager for L’Oréal Maroc, said the group’s training strategy is designed to go beyond certification by scaling skills nationally and addressing the absence of a public diploma in the sector.
She highlighted collaboration with OFPPT as a key lever in that effort. “In this way, we can share this knowledge and train OFPPT trainers so they can scale the skills we have to share. This can be done at a national level, with many more people trained through OFPPT,” she said.
This allows L’Oréal Maroc to extend access to high-level training beyond Casablanca, reinforcing its belief that talent exists across all regions of the country.
Yassine Najmi, General Manager of the Professional Products Division at L’Oréal Maroc, said the newly certified program reflects the group’s commitment to investing in people and strengthening the hairdressing industry.
He explained that the training is designed to be practical and immediately applicable, focusing on hands-on techniques, communication skills, and real salon situations to help new hairdressers integrate quickly into the profession.
“Those future hairdressers are today really well prepared and ready to go to the market and to fulfil all the expectations and the needs of salons,” he said, adding that the program aims to raise standards while adapting global expertise to the specific realities of the Moroccan market.
By anchoring its actions in education, L’Oréal Maroc aims to contribute to the long-term development of the sector, strengthen employability, and elevate standards in a fast-changing industry.
Rooted in a heritage that began more than a century ago with hair color and hairdressing, the group continues to position knowledge transfer and human capital as essential drivers of growth for the profession.
