Rabat– The Royal Navy carried out urgent operations on Tuesday to assist two individuals in critical condition aboard vessels navigating off Morocco’s coast, highlighting its swift response capabilities and commitment to maritime safety.
The first operation involved an elderly woman aboard the passenger ship Silver Muse, which was sailing approximately 267 kilometers west of El Jadida.
“This intervention comes in response to a notification received by the Royal Navy from the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center indicating that this woman was in critical condition aboard a passenger ship named Silver Muse, sailing 267 kilometers west of El Jadida,” the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) reported on their official Facebook page.
Following the alert, the Royal Navy immediately dispatched a patrol to carry out the medical evacuation. The patient was safely transferred to the port of Jorf Lasfar, where she received immediate care from a medical team. She was subsequently transported to a hospital in El Jadida to receive the necessary treatments and medical attention.
On the same day, the Royal Navy responded to a second alert from the same center concerning a man in critical condition aboard the cargo ship Kochiwi, located about 75 kilometers west of Jorf Lasfar.
In response, the Royal Navy launched a helicopter operation to evacuate the patient. The man was urgently airlifted and transferred to Cheikh Khalifa International University Hospital in Casablanca, where he received the required medical care.
Last year, the Royal Navy conducted two evacuation operations near the port of Mohammedia. The missions involved coordinated efforts between helicopters, naval units, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Maritime Search and Rescue Center.
