Coach Walid Regragui spoke with eyes full of hope and admiration following the spectacular game against Cameroon tonight in Rabat.
In a post-match press conference, the coach emphasized how this moment marked a momentum in Morocco’s football journey.
He also addressed the fans who had filled the stadium with energy and passion.
“You need to accept that we have 40 million coaches, whether you like it or not,” he said.
“I don’t have much to say — I just have to accept it. Some want to deploy three players, some four, and others want to see their favorite player or someone they think is good on the field. It is what it is.”
Regragui reflected respect for the fans who have been a driving force behind the Atlas Lions’ unforgettable performances throughout the tournament.
Morocco defeated Cameroon 2-0 in a thrilling quarterfinals. saibari who scored the second goal was named the Player of the Match.
Brahim Diaz scored Morocco’s first goal.
The Atlas Lions win sparked celebrations across the country. Moroccans filled the streets across the North Africa kingdom, chanting, dancing and waving Morocco’s flags to celebrate the momentum.
Cameroon coach David Pagou also commended Moroccan fans for their incredible support, describing them as the “12th player” on the pitch.
Speaking after the match, he also spoke about the referees.
He said while players and referees may sometimes have differences, the officials ultimately make the decisions. Pagou saluted the referees’ efforts and professionalism, while highlighting the passionate atmosphere created by Morocco’s supporters.
