Agadir – The 2nd African Congress of Pediatrics brought  together pediatricians, health specialists, and medical experts from across Africa over the past three days to address the continent’s challenges in children’s health.

The event was an opportunity for specialists to exchange knowledge and experiences targeting children’s health. The Congress aimed for South-South cooperation in pediatric care.

The Casablanca Association of Private Pediatricians (ACPP) and the African Association of Pediatrics put on the event, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health.

Mohamed Adnaoui, President of Mohammed VI University of Sciences and Health (UM6SS) said “This meeting, with participants from around 40 African countries, is designed to promote South-South collaboration through workshops, knowledge exchanges, and mentorship for emerging professionals.”

He emphasized that the congress seeks to unite practicing physicians and pediatric specialists around themes for the continent, highlighting outgoing medical training for child healthcare to address local realities.

Saïd Afif, President of the African Association of Pediatrics, described the second edition as an outstanding success, marked by broad participation from pediatricians across Morocco and the African continent, in addition to a large number of online attendees.

He noted that the agenda of the scientific program paid special attention to young professionals, providing them with opportunities to deliver oral presentations and gain recognition for studies addressing major health topics, including nutrition, immunization, and childhood diabetes.

The congress featured a rich scientific program, including thematic workshops on pulmonology and ENT, cardiology, neonatology, endocrinology, general pediatrics, emergency medicine, vaccinology, and dermatology.

The sessions aimed to improve participants’ practical skills, encourage the exchange of experiences, and address concrete challenges in child healthcare through research.
