The match started with high intensity. Barcelona took the lead in the 36th minute through Raphinha, who finished calmly after a smart pass from Lopez. Real Madrid responded just before halftime with a brilliant solo goal from Vinicius Junior in the 45+2 minute. But Barcelona quickly regained the lead two minutes later when Lewandowski scored after receiving a perfect pass from Pedri.
The first half ended 2–1 for Barcelona, but the drama wasn’t over. In the 45+6 minute, Gonzalo Garcia equalized for Real Madrid with a scrappy goal after a corner. The score was 2–2 going into the second half.
Barcelona kept control of the game with more possession and better passing. Their efforts paid off in the 73rd minute when Raphinha scored again, this time with a deflected shot that wrong-footed Courtois. That goal made it 3–2 and gave Barcelona the edge.
Real Madrid pushed hard in the final minutes, even sending Courtois into the box during a corner in stoppage time. But Barcelona’s defense held firm. The match ended with a red card for Frenkie de Jong after a rough tackle on Mbappé in the 90+1 minute, but it didn’t change the result.
Barcelona dominated possession and showed more control throughout the match. Despite Real Madrid’s chances and pressure, Barcelona’s finishing and teamwork made the difference.
With this win, Barcelona lifted the Super Cup for the 16th time and started 2026 with a major victory. It was a strong statement from Flick team, who will now look to build on this momentum for the rest of the season.
