Rabat – The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 hosted in Morocco has reached a new milestone. After the quarter‑final stage, which produced 10 goals, the overall tally climbed to 119 goals. This figure matches the record set during the previous edition in Côte d’Ivoire, which finished with the same total.

Unlike the Ivorian edition, AFCON 2025 is not yet complete. There are still four matches left: two semi‑finals, the third‑place playoff, and the final. This means Morocco’s tournament has a strong chance of surpassing the record and becoming the most prolific in AFCON history.

The high scoring reflects the attacking style seen throughout the competition. The group stage alone produced dozens of goals, while the knockout rounds have continued at a fast pace.

Teams like Nigeria, Morocco, and Egypt have contributed heavily, with star forwards such as Victor Osimhen, Brahim Diaz, and Mohamed Salah among the standout scorers.

The Africa Cup of Nations has often been criticized for defensive play, but recent editions show an attacking shift toward more open football.

Côte d’Ivoire 2023 set the benchmark with 119 goals, and Morocco 2025 is now poised to break it. If even a handful of goals are scored in the remaining matches, this edition will stand alone at the top of the scoring charts.

Fans and analysts are already calling AFCON 2025 one of the most entertaining tournaments ever. Beyond the numbers, the attacking football and dramatic matches have boosted Morocco’s reputation as a host.

The final stages will determine not only the champion but also whether this edition writes a new chapter in AFCON history.
