Rabat – Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT) has received a dual recognition in Spain, which paid tribute to the office’s performance, consistency, and strategy among travel professionals.
A statement from ONMT emphasized Morocco’s efforts in strengthening its position in the Spanish market, with a strategy that the office deployed among Spanish distribution networks.
ONMT said this strategy has been recognized by two prominent professional organizations in the sector, including the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) and the Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies (FAAV).
According to the statement, CEAV designated Morocco as the “International Destination of the Year 2025.” ONMT General Director Achraf Fayda received the award, recognizing the office’s efforts to promote, communicate, and structure Morocco’s tourism offer for travel distribution stakeholders in Spain.
For ONMT, this recognition reflects the “effectiveness of a long-term strategy aimed at enriching, updating, and strengthening Morocco’s programming among Spanish travel agencies and tour operators – key influencers in the market.”
CEAV represents thousands of agencies across Spain and is a central player in the Spanish tourism sector, ONMT added.
FAAV also awarded Morocco the distinction of “Preferred International Destination” among Andalusian travel agencies.
Achraf Fayda received the award from Antono Cano, president of the Cordoba Association of Travel Agencies and secretary general of the FAAV.
“The recognition is further strengthened by the continuous development of flight routes between Spain and Morocco, as well as maritime links connecting southern Spain to the Kingdom,” ONMT added.
Tourism revenues reached MAD 124 billion ($13.5 billion) by the end of November last year, representing an increase of 19% – with total overnight stays also rising by 9%.
Last year also marked a 12% increase in air connectivity capacity, reaching over 12 million seats, thanks to partnerships with international airlines as well as the launch of new long-haul routes like Atlanta-Marrakech.
Morocco also attracted nearly 20 million tourists last year.
