Rabat – Authorities in Tangier arrested a man and a woman on Tuesday evening in connection with the production and sale of fake academic and official documents.
A security source revealed that the main suspect, who runs an internet club, created and distributed falsified diplomas and study certificates for illegal purposes.Â
Investigations soon pointed to a female employee at the same club, who is believed to have assisted in the scheme.
Searches at both the internet club and the suspect’s home recovered 48 counterfeit diplomas, certificates, and grade reports.Â
Investigators also seized 41 fraudulent administrative stamps, three computers, and three printers used to produce the documents.
The male suspect remains in police custody, while the woman faces a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor.Â
Officials continue to examine the full extent of the operation and identify all individuals involved.
Also on Tuesday, Moroccan authorities arrested a 34-year-old French national in Tangier who was wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities.Â
Officers from the National Judicial Police Brigade confirmed his identity through Interpol’s database, which listed him under a red notice requested by the National Central Bureau in Paris.Â
French investigators suspect his involvement in a cross-border drug trafficking network, and Moroccan security services located him in Tangier, leading to his arrest as part of a coordinated effort between national and international authorities.
