Rabat – The Moroccan Federation of Self-Drive Car Rental Companies (FLASCAM) has launched the Green Mobility Pavilion on the sidelines of the 14th edition of Solaire Expo Maroc in Casablanca as part of its efforts to support the rapid transformation of Morocco’s mobility sector.

The pavilion brought together more than 30 leading brands, including manufacturers and importers specializing in hybrid and electric vehicles. The initiative aims to promote sustainable transport solutions and support Morocco’s national energy strategy.

At the same time, FLASCAM is organizing the National Green Mobility Summit in partnership with Solaire Expo Maroc. The summit serves as a platform for dialogue on the strategic challenges of sustainable transport and the future of green mobility in the Morocco, according to the organizers.

The 14th edition of Solaire Expo Maroc reflects the growing importance of renewable energy and sustainable development in Morocco’s national agenda, added the statement. The event comes as the country continues to strengthen its position as a regional leader in sustainable development through major projects focused on renewable energy, innovation, and the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarik Dbilij, President of FLASCAM, said the organization of the National Green Mobility Summit coincides with the federation’s 30th anniversary. He described the milestone as “three decades of continuous advocacy for the sector” and an opportunity to highlight the economic role of car rental companies, which today account for around 35% of automobile sales in Morocco.

Dbilij noted that Morocco’s automotive market is undergoing major changes, particularly with the gradual shift toward hybrid and electric vehicles. According to him, acquisitions of these vehicles increased by about 300% in 2025 compared to 2024.

He also noted that FLASCAM is implementing an integrated strategy to encourage the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles, while supporting cars manufactured in Morocco. Locally produced vehicles represented 52% of acquisitions in 2024, a figure that rose to more than 59% in 2025. This growth, he said, reflects the effectiveness of the national industrial ecosystem and the federation’s commitment to supporting local production.

Morocco vying for global leader in EV production

In September of last year, Morocco’s Vehicle Importers Association (AIVAM) launched Auto Expo, a car show dedicated entirely to hybrid and electric vehicles. The event marked a milestone in Morocco positioning itself as a key strategic player in this transition, aiming to lead the African region in adopting environmentally friendly mobility solutions.

The country is working to join 5-6 nations with complete EV manufacturing capabilities, including China, US, Germany, South Korea, Japan and India.

A key component of this is imbedded in their preparations as co-hosts of the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. The country has launched an ambitious plans to revolutionize green public transportation, starting with a procurement program for 7,000 electric buses, with the first tender already launched for 1,300 vehicles.
