Beni Mellal – The Indian Embassy in Morocco, alongside Indian diplomatic missions worldwide, has announced the opening of applications for the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship program for the academic year 2026-27.
Applications open on February 23 exclusively through the online A2A Scholarship Portal. No physical applications will be accepted at any Indian Mission, ICCR office, or university.
The program covers four levels of study: diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses at Indian state and central universities. Each year, ICCR awards over 3,000 scholarships to students from approximately 180 countries, with around 6,000 foreign scholars currently enrolled across Indian institutions.

Age requirements vary by program. UG and PG applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old as of July 1. PhD applicants must not exceed 50 years. There is no upper age limit for Hindi, Sanskrit, or Indian performing arts courses. Applicants must hold a valid passport, regardless of bilateral travel arrangements between their country and India.
Science and engineering applicants must have studied mathematics, physics, and chemistry at secondary level. Biology-based programs specifically require biology, physics, and chemistry. Medical, paramedical, law, fashion, and certain integrated programs are not eligible under this scheme. MBA applicants must provide a GMAT score. IIT B.Tech programs are also excluded.
Applicants may select up to five universities in preferential order. All documents must be submitted in English; applications lacking English translations will be rejected.
PhD applicants must include a research synopsis. Performing arts applicants must upload a recent audio or video recording of their performance. Only one application per candidate is permitted – duplicate submissions result in automatic disqualification.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, stipend, house rent allowance, and return airfare. However, students must be prepared to manage initial expenses independently upon arrival.
ICCR advises students to arrive with at least INR 50,000 (approximately $700) in hand, as the first stipend disbursement takes a minimum of two months to process. Upon arrival, students must open a State Bank of India account, after which three months of advance stipend is released by direct bank transfer.
Medical insurance of at least INR 500,000 is compulsory and must be arranged at the student’s own cost. Students who travel outside India for more than one month forfeit their stipend for that entire period.
Students must register with the Foreign Regional Registration Office within 14 days of arrival and report to the nearest ICCR Zonal Office. Part-time or full-time employment alongside studies is strictly prohibited.
Academic failure results in scholarship suspension or termination depending on circumstances. Scholarship changes of university or course after award are not permitted.
Students must upload alumni details on the India Alumni Portal before departure and close their Indian bank account upon leaving the country.
