Agadir – Air Europa is expanding its services within the Mediterranean and North Africa this summer by launching a new route from Madrid-Barajas Airport to Tangier, Morocco.
Flights on this route are set to begin on June 16, initially with three weekly frequencies, gradually increasing to five flights per week in August, before operations conclude in mid-September.
This marks the airline’s first direct connection to Tangier, offering travelers a convenient option to reach the Moroccan city during the peak tourist season.
The Tangier route is part of a broader summer expansion plan that also includes the launch of a new service to Bologna, Italy, scheduled for July and August with three weekly flights.
Air Europa is resuming several previously operated summer routes to meet increasing demand. These include Marrakech and Tunis in Morocco and Tunisia, Athens in Greece, and Alghero in Italy.
These expansions will add nearly 130,000 additional seats and more than 700 round-trip flights during the summer period.
In addition to Tangier, Air Europa is continuing and expanding its Marrakech service. The Madrid–Marrakech route was resumed on April 6, 2025, with the airline operating two weekly flights between the Spanish and Moroccan cities through the end of October.
For this route, Air Europa has made more than 20,000 seats available on its Boeing 737 short‑ and medium‑haul aircraft, contributing to a total allocation of over 40,000 seats to North Africa as part of its summer 2025 schedule.
This revival of flights to Marrakech follows earlier plans to resume the route in 2024 in response to strong passenger demand, particularly as Marrakech continues to grow as a popular destination for European tourists.
Beyond Morocco, Air Europa is also launching a new summer route to Bologna, Italy, and reviving several seasonal services across the Mediterranean, including flights to Tunis (Tunisia), Athens (Greece), and Alghero (Sardinia, Italy).
All Mediterranean and North African routes will be operated using Air Europa’s Boeing 737 fleet, chosen for its balance of capacity and fuel efficiency.
