‘Grand Israel’, PJD Condemns US’ Mike Huckabee’s ‘Provocative and Dangerous’ Remarks

PJD Leader Abdelilah Benkirane

Rabat – Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) has condemned remarks made by US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, which alleged Israel would be justified in controlling lands belonging to Arab countries.

He made his controversial claims in an interview with US commentator Tucker Carlson.

In the interview, he said “it would be fine if  [Israel ] took it all.” He continued:  “They’re not asking to go back to take all of that, but they are asking to at least take the land that they now occupy, they now live in, they now own legitimately, and it is a safe haven for them.”

In response to the provocative remarks, PJD strongly condemned the remarks, describing it as “dangerous and an affront to the sovereignty of brotherly Arab states.”

For the PJD, such remarks reflects the “true colonial and expansionist policy of the Israeli entity and its intentions for the land of Palestine in particular, and the Arab region as a whole, in pursuit of the mythical Torah dream of a ‘Grand Israel.’”

For the party, such remarks require all countries not only to denounce and condemn them but also to “go beyond weakness and hesitation; and take the initiative to mobilize all available material and moral capacities to confront this usurping entity and stand its supporters before it is too late.”

PJD has been among opposition parties that continue to urge the government to cut ties with Israel.

Morocco re-established relations with Israel in December 2020, but consistently emphasizes how its position on the Palestinian cause is constant and unchanged.

The North African country urged for a two-state solution and dialogue, endorsing a serious negotiation process aimed at establishing a sovereign and viable Palestinian State within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

During the Israel’s genocide on Gaza, Morocco was also among the countries to consistently call out human rights abuses, advocate for a ceasefire and send vital aid through King Mohammed VI’s Al-Quds Committee.
