Rabat – Thunderstorms and hail, in addition to strong winds, are expected in several provinces across Morocco today.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) issued a weather alert, forecasting thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 20 to 30 millimeters. The weather is expected to continue until 4 p.m. in the provinces of Errachidia, Midelt, Boulemane, Guercif, Figuig, and Taourirt.
The same weather conditions are expected from noon to midnight in the provinces of Ifrane, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Kelaat Sraghna, Tata, and Ouarzazate.
Thunderstorms will also affect Taroudant, Tinghir, Zagora, Khouribga, Settat, Essaouira, Marrakech, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Azilal, Beni Mellal, and Fquih Ben Salah.
Morocco has been experiencing cooler weather compared to a few weeks ago, when temperatures reached up to 29 degrees Celsius.
Weather applications are forecasting foggy conditions, with temperatures ranging between 19 and 25 degrees Celsius in Rabat.
The same weather conditions are expected to continue until Monday, with temperatures forecast to rise to between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and remain at similar levels through Thursday.
Forecasts provided by weather applications remain unverified, as temperature predictions can change in accordance with weather conditions.
Earlier this month, the DGMidentified summer 2026 as one of the country’s warmest summers in recent decades.
The summer ranked eighth among the hottest recorded in Morocco since 1981. Summer 2023 remains the hottest in the series, with an average temperature anomaly of 1.92 degrees Celsius.
All three months of the June-to-August period recorded above-average temperatures. June ranked eighth among the hottest on record, with an anomaly of 0.97°C, while July ranked seventh at 1.37°C. August ranked 10th, with temperatures 0.89°C above the 1991–2020 average.
