Casablanca – Police in Marrakech arrested a man and a woman yesterday, over suspected fraud involving claims that they could intervene in cases before the courts in exchange for money.
The two suspects, aged 38 and 28, allegedly offered mediation and brokerage services to people facing legal proceedings related to dangerous driving stunts and endangering other road users, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said.
The investigation began after police detected advertisements posted on a social media page offering such services for a fee. The advertisements claimed to help people involved in cases related to reckless driving and conduct that puts the lives of other road users at risk.
Police investigations led officers from the Marrakech Judicial Police to identify and arrest the main suspect in the city on Thursday evening.
Investigators continued their inquiries and later arrested a woman suspected of participating in the alleged criminal activity. Officers found several documents and a driving license registered in another person’s name in her possession.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the identities of the suspects or the number of people who may have used the alleged services.
Both suspects remain in police custody as part of a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Investigators aim to establish the full circumstances of the case and determine the alleged criminal acts attributable to each suspect.
