Rabat – Each Ramadan, Morocco rolls out one of its largest solidarity efforts, carried out under the royal instructions of King Mohammed VI.

During Ramadan 1447, the Royal Guard has prepared and distributed 150,000 ftour meals offered by the King to families in need across several cities.

The meals reach people who struggle to secure a daily iftar, especially in urban neighborhoods where hardship remains a daily reality.

In Rabat, distribution points include Dar Es-Salam, Touargas, Souissi, Moulay Abdellah Oncology Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital Avicenne. In Sale, families benefit in Kariat Oulad Moussa, Hay Essalam, and Maamoura.

The initiative also covers Tangier’s Charf district, Tetouan’s Hafat Rkina area, Marrakech’s Mechouar district, and the N’khilat Center in the commune of Rommani, in Khemisset province.

Local authorities coordinate closely with the Royal Guard to ensure that meals reach eligible households in an orderly manner.

This year, the operation expands to Ksar El-Kebir after recent floods affected several neighborhoods.

In response, the King ordered the preparation and distribution of 30,000 additional ftour meals for families in BelAbbas and Lamzouri, two of the areas that also suffered damage.

The annual effort offers more than food. For many, it brings relief during a month that holds deep spiritual meaning. It also reflects a continued state-led approach that places social solidarity at the center of Ramadan support across Morocco.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, a sacred period during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, pray, and reflect on faith, patience, and gratitude.

In Morocco, Ramadan shapes daily life in a visible way. Work hours shift, streets grow quiet before sunset, and families gather each evening to break the fast with dates, soup, and dishes prepared at home.

For vulnerable families, however, the month brings added pressure, as food costs and daily needs do not pause, and during which, solidarity and sharing takes on special meaning.
