Rabat – King Mohammed VI performed the Eid Al Fitr prayer on Friday at the Ahl Fès Mosque in the Mechouar district of Rabat, marking the official start of Shawwal 1447 and the end of Ramadan across Morocco.
The monarch was joined by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, alongside other members of the royal household.
The ceremony also drew senior state figures, including Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq and Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
King Mohammed VI also issued a royal pardon benefiting 1,201 individuals convicted by courts nationwide.
The measure aligns with a well-established practice tied to key religious and national moments, where clemency serves as a gesture associated with the occasion.
Eid Al Fitr signals the close of a month defined by fasting and spiritual observance.
The day shifts the rhythm of daily life toward gathering and shared rituals, as families come together after Ramadan.
Morning celebrations begin with a traditional breakfast, where staples such as msemen and beghrir appear on tables alongside pastries and sweets.
Visits between relatives and extended family continue throughout the day, with meals and exchanges that reflect long-standing social customs tied to the holiday.
