Rabat – Moroccan flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has launched a new direct flight route connecting Brussels and Tetouan, marking a step forward in air connectivity between Morocco and Belgium.

The inaugural flight departed Friday from Brussels Airport at 12:15 pm, heading to Tetouan-Sania R’mel Airport. The route will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.

The new service aims to improve access to northern Morocco and support tourism and economic activity in the region.

A reception took place at the departure area of Brussels Airport to mark the launch. Attendees included Moroccan community members living in Belgium and Belgian travelers heading to northern Morocco. Representatives from Royal Air Maroc, airport officials, and Moroccan diplomats were also present.

Mohamed Ameur, Morocco’s ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, described the new route as “more than just a flight,” saying it strengthens ties between the two countries and their people.

He noted that many Moroccans in Belgium are originally from northern Morocco, and the new route will make travel easier for them. He also said it will help promote tourism in the region, known for its cultural and historical heritage, and support economic and cultural exchanges.

Mohamed Issam Mosseddaq, Royal Air Maroc’s regional director for the Benelux, said the new route expands the airline’s network from Brussels. The airline already operates flights from the Belgian capital to Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Nador, and Tangier.

He added that the route will help meet demand from Moroccan expatriates and attract tourists from Belgium and nearby countries interested in visiting Tetouan and surrounding areas.

To support the launch, RAM ran a one-month promotional campaign in Brussels, including ads in metro stations near Moroccan communities, visuals on trams, and radio spots.

The airline expects the new connection to boost tourism by allowing Belgian tour operators to offer travel packages to northern Morocco.
