Agadir – Morocco presented at the 10th edition of the Moroccan real estate fair SMAP IMMO, Brussels, promoting the country’s rich heritage through a dedicated showcase of craftsmanship.

This edition, which started on March 27 and wrapped up today, featured artisans representing different regions and trades across Morocco, including Marrakech, Tangier, Rabat, Agadir and Fez.

“For three days, the exhibition will showcase more than 40 exhibitors from the Kingdom of Morocco, representing several dozen Moroccan cities and regions,” SMAP IMMO said in their website.

The event is organized by the State Secretariat for Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, in partnership with the Federation of Chambers of Crafts. It is part of a broader effort to promote Moroccan craftsmanship as a key pillar of the nation’s cultural identity.

The space was inaugurated by Morocco’s ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Mohamed Ameur, along with Moha Er-Rich, the director of heritage preservation, innovation, and promotion at the State Secretariat for Handicrafts, and Cheggaf Sidati, President  of the Federation of Chambers of Crafts.

The initiative featured a crafts village full of  carpets, furniture, decoration, zellige, pottery, ceramics, copperware, ironwork, artistic woodwork, embroidery, leather goods, traditional clothing, jewelry, and local products.

Participants also had access to Moroccan folklore performances, creating a lively atmosphere that put the country’s rich heritage on display.

The event also included conferences and information sessions organized with notaries, banks, lawyers and experts from the Moroccan real estate sector.

In late February, Morocco signed three partnership agreements in Rabat to strengthen the sector’s digital development and international promotion.

The agreements, signed by the State Secretariat for Handicrafts with various institutional actors, included a partnership to work with the Digital Development Agency to digitalize chambers and create a national registry of handicrafts, under a MAD 36 million budget.

In addition, another agreement focused on the export of handicraft products to other countries via exhibitions in Brussels and Paris, in partnership with SMAP EVENTS.

The third agreement will involve regional chambers and Dar Sanaa to provide training, quality improvement, and health coverage.
