Rabat – Barid Al-Maghrib has become the first national operator accredited for qualified timestamping, following approval from the DGSSI, marking a significant milestone in Morocco’s digital trust landscape.

The new accreditation is granted under Law 43-20 governing trust services for electronic transactions, and it reinforces Barid Al-Maghrib’s position as a key player in the country’s digital ecosystem.

Notably, it enables the group to offer high-value services to both public and private sectors, combining reliability, security, and full legal validity.

This development builds on a previous certification obtained in January 2025 for its “Barid eSign” service, which authorizes the issuance of electronic signature and seal certificates. Together, these advancements position the group at the forefront of secure digital solutions in Morocco.

Qualified timestamping, based on advanced cryptographic technologies, allows for the precise certification of a document’s existence at a specific date and time while ensuring its integrity. The service is expected to enhance the legal security of electronic transactions and support the broader shift toward paperless processes.

A pioneer in digital trust since launching “Barid eSign” in 2011, Barid Al-Maghrib continues to expand its portfolio of digital services. The integration of qualified timestamping is seen as a strategic lever to accelerate digital transformation across Moroccan institutions and businesses.

Earlier in January, Barid Al-Maghrib also signed a partnership agreement in Rabat with the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP), officially joining the national DATA-TIKA program.

The initiative supports organizations in complying with Morocco’s Law 09-08 on personal data protection, further aligning the group with national efforts to strengthen data governance and digital trust.
