Fez – Wydad Athletic Club suffered yet another setback this Sunday, losing 1-0 to Maghreb Fes (MAS), in a postponed fixture from the 12th round of the Botola Pro.

The defeat at the Complexe Sportif de Fès depends the crisis for the Casablanca giant.

The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when El Jabli found the back of the net, capitalizing on a tense encounter where Wydad struggled to convert possession into clear scoring opportunities.

The result adds pressure on the club’s management and raises questions about its technical direction.

Technical Enigma

The instability, following the dismissal of Mohamed Amine Benhachem in March 2026, triggered by a disappointing exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, continues to haunt the team

In an attempt to steady the ship, Wydad recently appointed French coachPatrice Carteron, whose arrival was meant to bring experience and structure.

However, this latest defeat shows a broader slump . Defensive selections remain a major point of contention, notably the continued reliance on Amine Aboulfath over international options.

Tactical decisions have fueled debate among supporters, leaving many to wonder who truly calls the shots in the squad management

The Road Ahead: Clarity or Collapse?
Wydad now sit fourth in the Botola standing with 30 points from 15 matches, trailing behind FAR Rabat (35 points) and MAS (35 points)

Wydad now finds itself in a precarious position where it desperately needs a clear vision. As the competition intensifies during this crucial stage of the season, the team can no longer afford further hesitation or inexplicable tactical maneuvers.

The era of inexplicable tactics and defensive stubbornness must end if Wydad is to regain its stature.

As the team prepares for its next outing, the pressure is no longer just on the players to perform, but on the leadership to prove that the technical staff still holds the club’s reins.
