Rabat – The Moroccan women’s national team recorded a convincing 3-0 win over Tanzania in a friendly match on Monday evening, as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Atlas Lionesses started strong, opening the scoring in the 4th minute through Sanaa Mssoudy. The forward later doubled her tally in the 76th minute, finishing off a well‑timed assist from Fatima Tagnaout.

Just three minutes later, Yasmin Lamrabet added the third goal, sealing a dominant performance.

The match was played in Rabat and served as an important test for Morocco as they build momentum ahead of the continental tournament. The team showed sharpness in attack and discipline in defense, keeping a clean sheet while creating several chances throughout the game.

WAFCON preparations

This friendly is part of Morocco’s training program for the WAFCON, which will be hosted in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.

The Lionesses are aiming to make a strong impact on home soil, with expectations rising after their recent progress in international competitions.

Morocco will continue their preparation with another friendly against Ghana on Friday, April 17, at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat. Kick‑off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. local time.

At WAFCON, Morocco will compete in Group A, alongside Kenya, Senegal, and Algeria. The group promises tough challenges, but Morocco’s recent performances and growing confidence suggest they are ready to compete at the highest level.

The win over Tanzania adds momentum to their campaign, reinforcing the belief that the Atlas Lionesses can deliver a strong showing when the tournament begins.
