Rabat – Yamal has won the young sportsman of the year award in recognition of his phenomenal achievements while representing FC Barcelona and Spain national team. The Barcelona boy has set himself to be one if not the most decisiveof the team, delivering great performances. Yamal helped the Catalan club win the treble, lifting the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Supercup trophies.

The spectacularly creative winger also had some amazing personal performances. For example, during the match between Barca and Alavés in February, he managed to surpass the record of successful dribbling established by Lionel Messi years ago in the league.

Since his debut with Barcelona in the 2023 season while being only 15 years old, Yamal’s performances have continued to improve. Last year, he was second in the Ballon d’Or ranking and won the Kopa Trophy twice.

Yamal is now the third footballer to win the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award in a row, after Jude Bellingham in 2024. The brilliance of football players resulted in the dominance of the sport in the Laureus Foundation’s awards in recent years.

Carlos Alcaraz also won the award for best sportsman of the year, given by the same organization.

The Spanish tennis player won the award by beating the competition of Jannik Sinner (tennis), Marc Márquez (Moto GP), Ousmane Dembélé (football), Mondo Duplantis (pole vault), and Tadej Pogacar (cycling).

Alvarez had an amazing season in which he won eight titles, highlighting Roland Garros and the US Open, two of the four Grand Slams. He received the award from the hands of Portuguese Luís Figo and” Iker Casillas.

For both Yamal and Alcaraz, the occasion was truly a night to remember.
