The Brazilian media has openly acknowledged the threat posed by Achraf Hakimi, labeling him Morocco’s lethal weapon ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a recent feature, Brazilian sports outlet Jogada10 described the Paris Saint-Germain player as one of the most decisive players capable of troubling even the biggest footballing nations, including Brazil.

Brazil on alert

As anticipation builds for the upcoming World Cup, Brazilian analysts are already studying Morocco’s strengths. Jogada10 admits that the Atlas Lions possess a dangerous combination of discipline, experience, and individual brilliance, with Hakimi standing out as the primary attacking outlet.

The outlet describes him as “versatile, competent, skillful and decisive,” stressing his ability to shift the balance of a match in seconds. His explosive pace and forward runs from the right flank make him a constant threat, something Brazil is clearly wary of.

Alongside Hakimi, they also identified goalkeeper Yassine Bounou as a key pillar, reinforcing the idea that Morocco’s strength lies in both defensive solidity and attacking efficiency.

A proven big-game player

Brazilian media notably points to Hakimi’s growing experience on the world stage. The 27-year-old will be entering his third World Cup, having already featured in 2018 and played a crucial role in Morocco’s historic 2022 campaign, where the team reached the semi-finals.

He played every match in Qatar, delivering consistent performances and even providing an assist during the tournament. His inclusion in the Team of the Tournament further cemented his reputation as one of the world’s elite full-backs.

Hakimi’s profile is strengthened by a career at Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, and now Paris Saint-Germain. His achievements, ranging from UEFA Champions League titles to domestic league triumphs, reflect a player accustomed to performing at the highest level under pressure.

He was also named African Player of the Year in 2025, further underlining his influence both at club and international level.

The recognition from Brazilian media comes with added significance, with Morocco and Brazil national football teams set to meet in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. The two sides have been drawn together alongside Scotland and Haiti, setting up one of the tournament’s most anticipated clashes in the group stage.

The clash between Morocco and Brazil is set for Saturday, June 13, at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 23:00 local time. Just a few weeks ahead of the global tournament, this encounter is already shaping up to be a defining moment in the group stage.
