Rabat – Real Madrid have reportedly begun the search for a new head coach ahead of next season.

The club is looking to move on from Álvaro Arbeloa following a string of disappointing results in both La Liga and the 2026 UEFA Champions League.

According to the German media outlet, SPORT BILD, Sebastian Hoeneß of VfB Stuttgart is among those being discussed internally. Real Madrid continue to monitor the successful coach very closely.

They are particularly impressed by the dominance with which Stuttgart plays – without buying established superstars. Pace, precise passing, a bold attacking style: these qualities were already noticed in Spain a year and a half ago.

Hoeneß,43, is a German tactician who has seen rise after transforming Vfb Stuttgart from a relegation to a powerhorse, most notably clinching the 2025 DFB-Pokal and securing consistent 2024-25 Champions League.

He is well known for his tactical flexibility, a high octane attacking philosophy, and has earned a reputation for over-performing with limited resources.

No official contact has been established by the Madrid board, and with Hoeneß under contract through 2028, Stuttgart holds the leverage of no release clause. However, should Madrid’s pursuit turn serious and the German tactician seek the exit, a negotiated transfer fee would be the only obstacle remaining.
