Rabat – The 19-year-old Ajax midfielder, Rayane Bounida, has quickly become one of the most-watched young attackers in Europe after a breakout 2025-26 season.

The Bundesliga side is considering a concrete move and is reportedly ready to offer a long-term deal to bring him to Germany. The Bundesliga team wants to add creativity and energy to their attacking midfield with a player who is already producing at a high level for his age.

Bounida’s rise this season explains the attention. Playing between AFC Ajax’s senior setup and Jong Ajax, he has consistently delivered, finishing the campaign with 34 appearances, 4 goals and 11 assists across competitions. Those concrete numbers and his technical profile have made him a serious transfer target.

Interest goes beyond Germany

Mönchengladbach may be one of the most concrete options right now, but the competition is heavy. Real Madrid are reportedly closely monitoring his development and have increased scouting efforts ahead of a possible summer move. FC Barcelona are also tracking him, with detailed reports already compiled on his creativity and attacking instincts.

In the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur are following his situation, while several other Bundesliga clubs are keeping tabs on his progress.

Bounida fits a very specific profile that top clubs are chasing: technically sharp, comfortable between the lines, and already capable of producing goals and assists. All that makes him valuable both as a creator and a long-term investment.

Despite the growing interest, Ajax are not under pressure to sell. The club has secured his future with a contract running until June 2028, which gives them full control over any potential transfer and strengthens their negotiating position.

An important development came in March 2026, when Bounida officially chose to represent Morocco national football team after previously playing for Belgium at youth level.

For now, there is no agreement in place, but his situation is clearly building. Borussia Mönchengladbach’s interest is concrete, yet they are competing with some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
