Meknes – Sir Alex Ferguson was rushed to the hospital after falling ill at Old Trafford just before Manchester United’s match against Liverpool on Sunday, according to BBC Sports.

The legendary manager is currently in stable condition after undergoing medical tests as a precaution due to his age. The same source indicates that Sir Alex is doing well and is expected to be released soon to continue his recovery at home.

As a regular at Old Trafford, the 84-year-old was in his usual reserved seat in the directors’ box to watch Manchester United face Liverpool.

However, the Scottish manager began to feel unwell and was treated by stadium medics before being taken to the hospital by ambulance an hour before kickoff.

Ferguson’s history with serious illness dates back to a 2018 brain hemorrhage. On Sunday, however, the manager appeared to be in good spirits just hours before kick-off, posing for photos with guests at the stadium.

Consultant cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra shared one image on X, describing the opportunity to spend quality time with Sir Alex before the Liverpool match: “A privilege, honour and dream come true to be invited to spend some quality time with Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of the game against Liverpool today at Old Trafford.”

An ambulance transported Ferguson from the tunnel area of Old Trafford to the hospital for further evaluation. Despite the concern, club officials are hopeful that he will be well enough to return home shortly.

Following Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool, head coach Michael Carrick told reporters that there was no new update on the legendary manager’s condition.

“Wish him all the best… Hopefully when he hears about the result it will give him a good boost.” Carrick said.
